Understanding WordPress Links: A Comprehensive Overview

Hyperlinks are HTML elements that connect web pages, allowing visitors to find useful information within a website and increasing the time they spend on the site. It also helps search engines understand the structure of your website and improve the crawling and indexing processes.

a) How to add a link in WordPress posts and pages

1. First, select “Posts” on the menu on the left side of the dashboard, then click the “Add New” button to add a link.

2. Then, click on the link icon to create a link.

3. After that, click on the Link Options button and enter the URL you want to link. In Link Text, insert the text you want to enter into the link.

4. Next, tick the checkbox Open link in new tab, and you can also link it to the existing content.

5. Finally, click on the Add Link button, and your link will be added.

b) How to add a new link in WordPress text widgets

There are two methods to add a new link in WordPress text widgets: adding a link in HTML and using a plugin.

  • Adding a link in HTML: In the href tag, you have to add a URL. Remember to add http:// before the domain name. Between the closing anchor tag and the opening anchor tag, add any text you want to link to.
  • Use a plugin: Install and activate the plugin to enable a visual editor for your text widget.

c)  How to add a new link in WordPress navigation menus

1. First, select “Appearance” on the menu on the left side of the dashboard, then click the “Menus” button to create and manage navigation menus.

2. Finally, you can add, delete, or edit links in your posts.
