Efficient OneDrive File and Folder Sharing: A Comprehensive Guide

OneDrive allows sharing documents, giving recipients access to the same file, and allowing editing without tracking multiple versions.

a) How to share a file or folder in OneDrive ?

1. First, hover your mouse over the file or folder you want to share and click the checkbox that appears.

2. Then, click the Info Pane button in the upper right corner of the screen to open the Info Pane if it is not already visible.

3. Next, the information pane will appear on the right side of the screen. Find the sharing group and click Add People.

4. After that, click “Get a Link” to generate a file link for sharing, or “Email” to send the file via email.

5. If you select Email, enter the recipient’s email address, optionally add a note, and click Share when ready.

6. Finally, your file or folder will be shared.

7. To edit the permissions on a shared file or folder, return to the details pane and use the controls in the sharing group.

Notes: Shared folders automatically share all documents within the folder, but individual sharing settings cannot be set for individual documents within the shared folder.
