Advanced Techniques: Diagnosing and Resolving Spool Overflow in Smarter Mail

A web server’s spool may be filled with mail waiting for delivery due to unusual user mail or spam from compromised accounts. This can cause a slowdown in mail service, causing delayed customer messages or server delays. To restore mail flow without losing valid messages, create a new empty spool folder and move message files.

a) How do I clear out my backed-up spool and get messages in Smarter Mail ?

1. First, stop the Smarter Mail service from the server’s Services Control Panel.

2. Then, locate the Smarter Mail spool folder, C:\SmarterMail\Spool.

3. After that, rename the “Spool” folder by right-clicking on it and selecting “Rename“.

4. Next, restart the Smarter Mail service from the Services Control Panel, and it will create an empty “Spool” folder for sending and receiving messages.

5. After identifying the spool backup issue and resolving it, transfer valid messages in EML and HDR format from “spool_old” to the new “Spool” created by Smarter Mail folder.
