Producing content on WordPress: A guide to creating your first post

WordPress posts are time-based, individual content pieces on your website, ideal for regularly released updates, news articles, and new content. They can be created using the same editor and can include text and media. They are typically dated, listed in chronological order, and organized using categories and tags. You can also change the publication location.

a) Add your Blog Post in WordPress

1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard and select Posts from the menu on the left side of the dashboard, then click the “Add New” button.

2. You can create posts as per your needs using the tools provided on the screen.

3. Once you have completed your post, click the “Publish” button to display it on your blog page on your WordPress site. For more information on creating posts, you can visit the WordPress official site.

b) Change where your posts get published

1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard and select Settings from the menu on the left side of the dashboard, then click the “Reading” button.

2. Modify or confirm what appears on the homepage.

  • Your most recent post: This is the default setting. Your homepage shows your blog posts.
  • Static Pages: This will replace your home (blog) page with a static page and show the blog posts on the static page.
  • NOTE: Don’t make your ‘Home page’ and ‘Post Page’ the same as what WordPress requires.

3. Once you’ve finished changing your post settings, click the “Save Changes” button to save your settings.
