Migrating from Plesk to cPanel: A Comprehensive Step-by-Step Guide

Plesk is a user-friendly web hosting control panel for virtual private or dedicated servers that offers automation tools and a user-friendly interface, making it a popular choice among web professionals. It works on Windows or Linux servers.

a) How do I do Plesk migration ?

1. First, log into WHM, navigate to the “Transfer” section, and select the “Transfer Tool” sub-option.

2. Next, enter the remote server information:

  • Remote server address: Enter the IP address of the other server.
  • Remote SSH port: Enter the remote SSH port, for example, 22.

3. Then, enter your authentication information:

  • Login: Select “Root (default)” as the login name.
  • Authentication method: Choose an authentication method, password, or SSH public key, with the “Password (Default)” option being selected.
  • Root password: Enter the root password of the other server’s root user.

4. If you want restricted recovery to run additional security checks, select the checkbox in the Security section, and the backup file will not be restored if it contains segments with security flaws.

5. After that, select the “Plesk” remote server type and click on the “Scan remote servers” button in the Advanced section.

6. Then, select the website you want to migrate and click “Copy“. Once complete, a page will appear indicating data transfer and account recovery. 

7. To verify the account’s relocation, check the “List Accounts” option in WHM and test the website using host file modifications before adjusting the DNS to the new server.
