Creating and Configuring Email Accounts in cPanel: A Step-by-Step Tutorial

cPanel Email is a reliable email service for users seeking quick and secure email sending and receiving. It features spam filtering and a user-friendly interface, allowing non-skilled users to manage their websites, domain names and email accounts without technical knowledge.

a) cPanel email account guideline

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Email Accounts tool or search for the Email Accounts tool in the search bar.

2. Then, click on the “Create” button and provide detailed information in each field.

  • Username: Specify the username you want to use for email.
  • Security: It’s advisable to use a strong email account password, preferably a combination of capital letters and numbers. It can also be generated using the cPanel password generator.
  • Provide an alternate email (optional): To reset your email password using a different email account, simply fill in your backup email here.
  • Storage Space: The storage space is available in limited or unlimited options, with limited storage preventing messages once the set number is reached, while unlimited storage ensures uninterrupted communication.

3. Finally, click the “Create” button, and your email account is created successfully. If you checked Send welcome email with instructions for setting up your mail client, you will receive configuration details for setting up your email client. You can then use it to set up your webmail with clients like Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird and more.

b) Delete an cPanel email account

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Email Accounts tool or search for the Email Accounts tool in the search bar.

2. Then, click the Delete Link button corresponding to your email account.

3. Finally, click the Delete button to delete your email account.

c) Change cPanel email passwords

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Email Accounts tool or search for the Email Accounts tool in the search bar.

2. Then, click the Change Password link button that corresponds to your email address to change your password.

3. After that, enter the new password and click the “Change Password” button to save the changes.

d) Change the cPanel email quote

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Email Accounts tool or search for the Email Accounts tool in the search bar.

2. Then, click on the “Change Quota” link button corresponding to the email address you wish to manage.

3. After that, enter a limited quota in megabytes or choose an unlimited option, and click on the Change Quota button to save changes.

e) Configure the cPanel Mail Client

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Email section to select Email Accounts tool or search for the Email Accounts tool in the search bar.

2. Then, click the Configure Mail Client link button corresponding to your email account and you will view Auto Configuration Scripts.

3. After that, download the automatic configuration script that configures the mail client interface. Just download the appropriate settings and run.

4. You can also manually configure your mail client by scrolling down to Manual Settings. Note: There are four setups: IMAP and POP3, both over SSL/TLS and non-SSL. SSL provides extra security for encrypted messages, while non-SSL does not. It’s recommended to use SSL settings. IMAP and POP3 can be used for various settings.
