File Transfer Simplified: A Guide to Using FTP in cPanel

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) supports file management using third-party applications such as FileZilla and CoreFTP. It is perfect for large files or large file sizes. FTP accounts configure users to upload, download or modify files. Each account has its own username and home directory and can only have specific access to that directory.

a) How to create an FTP account in cPanel

1. Log into cPanel and navigate to the Files section to select FTP Accounts tool or search for the FTP Accounts tool in the search bar to explore your cPanel file manager.

c) Special FTP Accounts

FTP accounts are pre-built with hosting accounts for administrative purposes. A special type of FTP account is your administrative FTP account which has the same username as your account. Its home directory is your cPanel account root and you can use the same password to access all files in your account.
