Common Queries: Plesk FAQs, Part 2

a) Are there any restrictions on email settings in Autodiscover ?

plesk

Plesk plans to address numerous limitations in future releases.

b) Which email clients are supported by the automatic discovery function of email settings ?

plesk

Microsoft Outlook and Thunderbird

c) Are there any limitations to the SNI functionality ?

plesk

There are numerous restrictions:

  • Plesk does not support mail auto-discovery for Microsoft Outlook 2019 and 0365. Earlier versions of Outlook obtained autodiscover queries from the root domain server, while Microsoft Outlook 2019 uses Microsoft Cache Server as a proxy server.
  • The Plesk Mail auto-discovery feature is not compatible with the current configuration, and a workaround is to configure a local mail client to request the autodiscover configuration directly from the Plesk server.
  • The Thunderbird mail client does not automatically configure wildcard subdomains.

d) Which operating systems support SNI for mail services ?

plesk

The list includes all Windows and Linux operating systems that are compatible with Postfix and Dovecot.

e) If email SNI is now supported, how can I automate email security using the SSL It or Let’s Encrypt extensions ?

plesk

Currently, automation is not supported, but wildcard SSL/TLS certificates can be issued with SSL It or Let’s Encrypt or manually assigned to the mail using the “Mail Settings” tab in subscription mail settings.
