Enhancing Your WordPress Website: A Guide to Plugin Installation

WordPress plugins are used to control the behavior and functionality of WordPress websites. It also offers customization capabilities and features so that each user can tailor their website to their specific needs.

a) Install WordPress Plugins Manually

1. Log in to WordPress and select Plugins on the menu on the left side of the dashboard, then click the “Add New” button.

2. You can search for plugins in the search bar in the upper-right corner. After searching for and selecting the plugin, click the “Install Now” button to install it. You can click on the plugin name to see more details about it. You can also upload downloaded plugins from your WordPress website or third-party sources by clicking the “Upload Plugin” button. Then, click the “Choose File” button to upload the downloaded plugin, and click “Install Now” to install it. After that, click on the “Activate Plugin” button to activate it.

3. After the installation is complete, click the “Activate” button to activate and use it. You can also activate or deactivate any plugin by selecting “Plugin” button and then click “Installed Plugins” button on the menu on the left side of the dashboard.

b) Install WordPress Plugins through FTP

1. Go to the FileZilla website and download and install the latest FileZilla version on your computer device.

2. Log in to your hosting provider account by entering the hostname, port number, username, and password in FileZilla. Typically, you have to set up your own FTP user account in your hosting dashboard; however, this is a different process for each hosting provider. Typically, when you create a new account, your hosting provider will give you with a username and password, which you will need when creating your FTP client account.

3. On the remote site, search and select the wp-content folder, then open the plugins folder.

4. Upload the downloaded, unzipped plug-in file to the plug-in folder. Then, go to your WordPress site and select Plugins, then click “Installed Plugins” button on the menu on the left side of the dashboard, and click on the “Activate” button to activate the uploaded plugin.
