Comprehensive Guide to Updating Database Connection String in Smarter Track

System administrators may need to update Smarter Track’s database connection string after reinstalling SQL or moving to a new server, as the settings are initially configured during installation and can be modified at any time.

Note: To re-enable the primary administrator’s login credentials and database connection information, follow these steps, excluding the default SMTP settings in the SystemSettings.xml file, and ensure to re-enable the default settings.

a) How do I run the database connection wizard in Smarter Track ?

1. First, stop your Smarter Track application pool.

2. Then, delete SystemSettings.xml in the App_Data\Config folder of the installation directory in [C:\Program Files (x86)\SmarterTools\SmarterTrack\MRS\App_Data\Config].

3. After that, start your Smarter Track application pool.

4. Next, log in to Smarter Track as the primary system administrator.

5. Finally, the Database Connection Wizard will run automatically.
