Comprehensive Guide to Smarter Stats Relocation on a New Server

System administrators may need to relocate Smarter Stats to the new server after upgrading to a new server or changing hosting companies.

a) How do I move Smarter Stats to a new server ?

1. First, install Smarter Stats on the new server.

2. Then, stop the Smarter Stats service on both servers.

3. After that, copy the following files from the old server to the new server:

  • C:\Program Files\SmarterTools\SmarterStats\MRS\App_Data\Config\*.xml
  • C:\Program Files\SmarterTools\SmarterStats\MRS\App_Data\Config\license.json
  • C:\Program Files\SmarterTools\SmarterStats\MRS\App_Data\Config\Sites\*.xml
  • C:\Program Files\SmarterTools\SmarterStats\Service\Sitelist.dat
  • The SmarterLog directory, defaulted to C:\SmarterLogs, can be any directory set as its location.

Note: The path for 64-bit operating systems is located under C:\Program Files (x86).

4. Next, start Smarter Stats on the new server and activate it.

5. Finally, the site’s log file path should be updated if necessary due to potential changes in the W3SVC number.

Note: The data may take a few minutes to appear after the move.
