Securing Directory Access: A Guide to Password Protection

The Protected Directories feature allows you to password-protect specific website areas, requiring users to provide the correct username and password to access the protected content. This feature restricts public access to specific directories and files within your website.

a) How do I password protect a directory in Plesk ?

1. First, log into your Plesk control panel.

2. Then, click on the “Websites & Domains” tab on the left navigation bar of the page.

3. After that, click on the password-protected directories.

4. Next, click Add Protected Directory.

5. Then, specify the directory name and label it with a specific title, then click OK when finished.

6. Next, navigate back to the password-protected directory and click on the directory you created earlier.

7. After that, click on the “Add a User” icon under “Tools”.

8. Finally, fill in the Username, Password, and Confirm Password fields, and then click OK after completing the process.
