Upgrading Your VPS Server: A Comprehensive Guide

VPS hosting is more scalable than shared hosting, and resources can be easily upgraded to handle increased traffic. It also provides greater security, as a single virtual server can protect all websites on the server from a single hacker attack. Upgrading to VPS hosting can also improve performance and speed, as dedicated resources can handle more traffic and provide faster load times.

a) Linux

VPS

1. First, connect to the server via SSH.

2. Then, enter the yum check-update command for CentOS or the apt-get update && apt-get -s upgrade commands for Ubuntu to check and display the list of packages that can be upgraded.

3. After that, use the yum update command on CentOS or the apt-get update && apt-get upgrade command on Ubuntu to upgrade all packages.

4. Finally, type Y and press the Enter button to start the process.

b) Windows

1. First, connect to your VPS and click the Start button to select Settings.

2. Then, go to Update & Security, then Windows Update, and click the Check for updates button. If any are available, the system will start the download and preparation process. It is recommended to restart it. Notes: Remember to close all the open applications and reconnect to the server when it restarts.
