The Ministry of Finance in collaboration with Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC), SME Bank and Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has rolled-out a digitalisation grant to encourage SMEs embrace digitalisation in their day-to-day operations. SME Digitalisation Grant is a Budget 2020 initiative to encourage SMEs to adopt digitalisation in their business operations. Through this initiative, the government will provide each company with a 50% matching grant, up to RM5,000 for the subscription of approved digital services. The grant worth RM500 million over 5 years is limited to the first 100,000 SMEs.

The 5 Digitalisation services covered by the SME Digitalisation Initiative are:

  • Electronic Point of Sales (e-POS) System
  • Human Resource Payroll System (HR) / Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
  • Digital Marketing / Sales
  • Procurement
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Accounting & Tax

Technology Service Providers (TSPs) are local technology companies identified to support Malaysian SMEs in their digitalisation efforts through the SME Digitalisation Grant. SMEs can only engage with approved TSPs to be eligible for the grant.

SMEs has to fulfil the below criteria to be eligible for the grant:

  • At least 60% Malaysian-owned
  • Registered under the relevant laws of Malaysia
  • Has been in operation for at least 1 year
  • Minimum annual sales turnover of 100,000 for companies in operation for 1 year
  • Minimum annual sales turnover of RM50,000 in the preceding two consecutive years for companies in operation for more than 2 years.

Follow these steps to apply for your SME Digitalisation Grant:

Step 1: Contact and appoint Webserver as your TSP to kick-start your digitalisation plans;
Step 2: Choose your web hosting or cloud computing solutions with WebServer;
Step 3: WebServer will assist you for the documentation checking and audit before submitting them for approval;
Step 4: Once your application is approved, you will receive a notifications from BSN;
Step 5: The bank will pay the balance 50% of your total invoice amount, up to a maximum of RM5,000 to WebServer.
